Food Truck Friday at Jack Black’s
It’s happening again – Food Truck Friday is back with a vengeance, courtesy of Jack Black’s Brewing Co., the Eezy Eatery and Black Beer’d. Modelled on a US concept that is fast becoming the new Cape Town luxury dining out option, Food Truck Friday was first launched in July 2016 and returns this summer on the last Friday of every month until May. Except this time there are twice as many food trucks to choose from.
Held in the indoor industrial-chic surroundings of Jack Black’s tasting room, this event is a great place to start your Friday evening shenanigans with live entertainment, courtesy of CrossCurrent and Stone Jets. Location is everything, and it would just be rude not to sample some of your host’s hand-crafted produce while you are there.
Jack Black is surging to the forefront of the craft beer industry in South Africa with their range of flavoursome bevvies described as follows:
- Brewer’s Lager delivers a crisp and refreshing taste
- Atlantic Weiss soothes with rich, soft fruit aromas
- Cape Pale Ale refreshes with a hint of red berries and citrus
- Keller Pils features natural unfiltered goodness
- Butcher Block Pale Ale is rich and complex, yet balanced
- Lumberjack will introduce you to dark malt, roasted flavours
- Skeleton Coast India Pale Ale takes it to the max with the taste of extreme hops and full malt.
Sounds like something for everyone to enjoy.
Now for the nosh
The main event remains the food though, so come hungry and sample some of Black Beer’d’s good old fish and chips. Coated in what may very well be the best beer batter outside of Britain, this dish is crafted from only the best and freshest locally caught fish with a side of chips just the way you like them – crisp, hot and plentiful.
If you hanker after something a little more exotic, the Eezy Eatery will lure you in with their seared tuna and prawn kebabs, hake burgers and craft beer-battered hake goujons, i.e. really fancy fish nuggets.
Not into nibbling on sea life? Cosmo Café offers world favourites like Tuscan Fettuccini with chicken and mushroom, New York lox bagels, Pakistani lolly wraps, Moroccan tagines, Thai pork or chicken, and gourmet salads. Tailgate Food will be there too for the carnivores with their usual range of delicious chicken wings, pork ribs, bacon bites and pulled pork.
