FYNd Your Table Five Floors Up

The joy of staying in Cape Town self-catering accommodation is the option to dine where and when you like. The only problem is the abundance of choices you’ll face come mealtimes. Here’s a heads up about the city’s latest culinary attraction – FYN at Speakers Corner on Parliament Street.

Fine Dining at it’s FYNest

When you walk into this trendy Cape Town restaurant, you’ll know you’re in for a treat. Here the kitchen takes centre stage in the modern spacious interior, with clean lines juxtaposed against wooden mushroom-like baubles dangling from the roof.

This exceptional eatery is yet another brainchild of chef extraordinaire Peter Templehof, together with partners, Ashley Moss and Jennifer Huge.

FYN aims to please the palate by breaking down conventional barriers, delivering new combinations of flavours and deliciousness. It’s food art at its best with every dish engineered into an exquisite design that hints at the pleasures to come.

Despite the immaculate service and clean, cool interiors the restaurant manages to create a calm, relaxed environment that’s far from stuffy and pretentious.

What’s on the Menu at this Cape Town Restaurant?

Well for starters you have a choice of 8 different set menus, including plant-based and pescatarian options. The dishes read like a riddle of exotic eats with a distinctly Asian influence tinged with local flavour.

These are some of the mysteries on offer:

  • Idombolo, bone marrow coal
  • Bo Kaap spiced guineafowl yakitori
  • Idombolo & butter
  • Fyn ferments & Ishikawa rice
  • Asparagus yakitori

That’s just a selection of the starters, the main courses continue the intrigue with smoked eel, springbok, tuna and aubergine like you’ve never seen them before. Come dessert time, you’ll be scratching your head over a selection of Madagascan chocolate, White coffee crème brûlée and Raspberries with yuzu and coconut.

Eat in Good Conscience

FYN uses only sustainably farmed ingredients sourced from local suppliers, which means you could be in for some surprises when you visit. Anything can change according to the seasons and availability which only gives you reason to visit time and time again.
