What to pack into a week in Self-catering Accommodation in Cape Town

cape-town-254844_640The Mother City is awash with things that you simply must do and see during your stay at self-catering accommodation in Cape Town.

Here’s our wish list for you.

Morning Activities

Start the day with coffee and a bite to eat. Coffee culture is bubbling over across the Mother City and you’ll be able to get your fix at any suburb under the sun not far from your accommodation. These are our favourites.

Make your way to the cableway for a trip to the top of Cape Town’s most iconic feature, Table Mountain. If you need to burn off yet another delicious Cape Town dinner, take a hike up to the top of the mountain and then catch the cablecar down, or take a walk among the lush blooms of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Physical exercise with panoramic views is a great way to being your day. Climb the slopes of Lions’ Head to watch the city coming to life and the sun’s rays creeping from behind the mountains to glimmer on the sea.

With your workout done for the day head to the V&A Waterfront for a luxury shopping spree among designer stores and unique outlets. While you are in the area, the brand new Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art is not to be missed. The architecture of this magnificent venue is a delight, never mind the amazing works that it contains.

A drink or lunch at one of the many seaside eateries found at the Waterfront will balance out your morning of activities.

Early morning is also the best time to make tracks to the wine lands for a day exploring the many activities on offer there.

Daytime Delights

The Winelands offer every form of exertion and elegance from walking to wine tastings and pairings. You can fish on the fly, roam the vineyards on horseback or bike, or catch a tram to take in the sights.

Come lunchtime there’s no shortage of places to feast on some of the world’s best fare in Franschhoek or picnic on the lawns of a Stellenbosch estate.

A drive along Chapman’s Peak is one of the most scenic in the world, providing panoramas over the Atlantic Ocean and Hout Bay

An afternoon at the V&A offers many amusements. Visit the Aquarium where two oceans collide, take the ferry out to Robben Island for a historic blitz, or float around the harbour on a relaxed boat cruise complete with cocktails.

Visit Cape Point nature reserve to walk among the fynbos or Boulders Beach to hang out with the penguins.

Evening Attractions

From your accommodation, take a walk along the Sea Point Promenade at sunset to say goodnight to another beautiful day or pop in for cocktails along the elite Camps Bay strip, playground of Cape Town’s most beautiful people.

The Mother City plays host to many rooftop bars where you can rub shoulders with local and international celebrities while sipping on some bizarrely named drink and soaking up the views around you.

Afterward you can pick a different restaurant every night from the fabulous array available or dance to the beat of local DJs at one of the pumping nightclubs around town. Catch a show at any of the many theatres in town – Computicket has a long list of what’s available.
