Safari webcams are all the rage in South Africa and a wonderful way to pass the time, particularly if you’re craving some scenic seascapes or hankering for the sights and sounds of one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
Here’s what to do if you need a taste of Cape Town right now!
Webcams in and Cape Town
There are a few webcams in Cape Town where you can look in on the Mother City right now and enjoy familiar scenes without the crowds. So, grab a glass of that Cape Town wine you’ve been saving for a rainy day, pull up a chair and spend some scenic time in the Mother City without leaving your home.
An internet search will reveal some live as well as regularly updated views over Cape Town’s wonderful beaches and mountainscapes. There are webcams at the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point, Camps Bay, Stellenbosch, and even one at Addo Elephant Park along the Garden Route if you feel like a change of scenery.
Laugh a Little
Are you missing the entertainment scene of this cultural wonderland? Tune into YouTube for your choice of past shows from the following Cape Town institutions:
- Cape Town Comedy Club
- Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts
- Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra
- Artscape Theatre
There are plenty more to choose from as well as many clips featuring street entertainment from all over town.
Take a Tour
Since the advent of online tourism this year, many of Cape Town’s top sites have uploaded virtual tours of their venues for your viewing pleasure.
The Norval Foundation has tours of its gardens and sculptures for all to see and you can take a virtual stroll through some of the city’s iconic street art districts too.
